PRODUCT DETAILS

The Weekender ISW was Go Power!'s entry-level complete solar and inverter system: a 200W monocrystalline panel, a 30A PWM solar controller, a 1500W GP-ISW1500-12 industrial pure sine wave inverter with remote, a 30A pre-wired transfer switch and the GP-DC-KIT3 inverter install kit. It has been replaced by the Weekender ASW, but many are still on the road. This page keeps the system's specs, manuals and replacement parts in one place for owners.

How the system works

Solar charges your battery bank through the 30A controller. The inverter turns battery power into 120V AC, and the transfer switch feeds your breaker panel from the inverter when you're off-grid and from shore power or a generator when you're plugged in. The Weekender ISW does not include a converter/charger: on shore power, your RV's stock converter charges the batteries. It is rated for RVs with 30A shore service.

Which version do I have?

The Weekender ISW was built over several years. Systems sold as part 83295 shipped with a 200W panel and the Bluetooth GP-SB-PWM-30-BT controller. Earlier builds used a 190W panel and the GP-PWM-30 controller. Check the labels on your panel and controller, then open the matching manual under Documents.

Keep it running, or grow it

The 30A controller accepts up to 600W of 12V solar, so you can add up to two 200W panels with the 200W Overlander Expansion Kit. Replacement controllers, remotes, Class T fuses, transfer switches, cables and mounting hardware are under Accessories. If the inverter needs replacing, the ASW-1800-12-TS combines an 1800W pure sine wave inverter and a 30A transfer switch in one unit. Have a qualified RV technician make the change.

FEATURES
  • 200W monocrystalline panel (GP-PV-200M) — 9.62A rated current, silver anodized frame, solar connectors (SC).

  • ≈ 60Ah a day of solar in summer, ≈ 24Ah in winter into a 12V battery.
  • Expandable to 600W on the included 30A controller.
  • Suits 100Ah+ lithium or 200Ah+ AGM banks and RVs with 30A shore service.
WHAT IT RUNS

What 200W of solar puts back each day: about 60Ah into a 12V battery on a sunny spring or summer day and about 24Ah in fall and winter, the same rule our RV solar calculator uses (30Ah and 12Ah per 100W per day). Compare that with what your gear draws:

Typical 12V camping dayDaily draw200W of solar (summer)
Storage: parasitic draws of a parked RV≈ 4Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Weekend basics: LED lights, vent fan, water pump, phone & laptop charging≈ 25Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Basics + 1000W microwave, 10 min a day≈ 40Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
12V compressor fridge alone, 24 h≈ 50Ah/dayCovered daily in summer
Basics + TV and streaming box through the inverter (150W, 3 h)≈ 65Ah/day≈ 90% in summer
Fridge camp: basics + 12V compressor fridge≈ 75Ah/day≈ 80% in summer — add a 200W expansion panel

The 1500W inverter runs a TV, laptops, a coffee maker or a small microwave. A 1000W microwave uses about 15Ah from a 12V battery for every 10 minutes it runs. Air conditioners and electric water heaters need shore power or a generator.

FAQ
Is the Weekender ISW still available?

It has been replaced by the Weekender ASW (200W ShadeTech™ solar and an 1800W inverter with a built-in 30A transfer switch). Go Power! dealers may still have Weekender ISW stock; use Find a Dealer. Manuals and replacement parts for the ISW system stay on this page.

Which manual do I need?

Start with the 2019 system manual under Documents: it covers the Weekender ISW layout, parts checklist and wiring diagram. The GP-ISW1500 inverter, GP-ISW-R remote, solar controller, GP-TS transfer switch and GP-DC-KIT install kit each have their own manual there too.

Can I add more solar?

Yes. The 30A controller accepts up to 600W of 12V panels, so you can add up to two 200W panels. The 200W Overlander Expansion Kit includes the panel, mounts and solar branch connectors (SC). If your system has an older 190W panel, call Go Power! support before mixing panels.

My inverter remote stopped working. What replaces it?

The system shipped with the GP-ISW-R (on/off with LED status). The GP-SWR-A push-button remote also works with ISW inverters and is listed under Accessories.

Does it charge my batteries on shore power?

Through your RV's existing converter. The Weekender ISW has no built-in charger: the transfer switch passes shore power to your breaker panel and the converter charges the battery as usual. The Solar Elite and Solar Extreme systems include an inverter charger instead.

Can I switch to lithium batteries?

The GP-SB-PWM-30-BT controller on 83295 systems has a lithium (LiFePO4) profile. The older GP-PWM-30 controller's settings are in its manual. Your RV's converter must also be lithium-compatible for shore charging.

What fuse protects the inverter?

The GP-DC-KIT3 install kit uses a 200A Class T fuse with #2 AWG cables. Replacement Class T fuses are under Accessories.

Can I upgrade the inverter?

Yes. The ASW-1800-12-TS replaces both the inverter and the separate transfer switch with one unit, or an AIC inverter charger adds a built-in battery charger. Either is a rewiring job for a qualified RV technician; size the DC cables and fuse to the new inverter's manual.

What's the warranty, and who do I call?

Go Power! rigid panels carry a 25-year limited power-output warranty, the solar controller 5 years and the ISW inverter 2 years from the original purchase date. For help with an installed system, call Go Power! support (part of Dometic) at 1-866-247-6527.
